Inclusivity in design is a simple yet effective way to break down barriers and cater to the built environment and everyday activities.
The project has firm roots in ancient values while boldly representing an evolved and modern India. Located in a city with such a prominent identity, the ”design” hotel is not overshadowed by the famous monument but is able to withstand its own ground due to its elegant balance between tradition and modernity.

Unlike usual projects, this was executed without any 3D visuals, it hinged on the trust between the designer and the execution team. The designing was done alongside the execution of work on site, once again an uncommon practice made possible by an in-depth understanding between all stakeholders involved, and a fast-paced, sequential design-execution schedule.
The goal here was to incorporate elements of the city in a new, modern way. Clean, minimal rooms had an ode to the Taj with visible hints of delicate inlay work. Taking inspiration from the design principles followed in the Taj, the hotel’s interior and exterior struck a calming balance. The structure incorporated clean lines and bold, classical elements while the interiors incorporated curves and a colour theme.

The project features the use of bold colours and modern fixtures while keeping the furniture woven or wooden to travel back in time while being relevant in the present. The amalgamation of materials like metal and stone on one surface is a welcome blurring of boundaries between modernity and tradition. The typical Indian prints and patterns maintain a strong connection with the skilled craftsmen of Agra.
