Creation is in essence the closest humankind can ever get to godliness.
Ipsita Mondal walked the ropes of godliness through lines and colours on walls and bed covers that her mother never rebuked her for. Her dream thus unleashed only grew grander upon witnessing, as a child, the towers that rose out of the deserts of Dubai, soaring for the sky. The very same land where she arrived having witnessed her maternal grandfather’s enterprising spirit in Kolkata. That dreamy girl had very well known the visionary woman she was
to become.
Today she asserts her role as an enterprising designer of interiors, architecture and urban cityscapes. She symbiotically bonds with each new endeavor she chooses to undertake, and dreams it — breathes it — lives it — means it until she creates the most truly worthy design.
Each project is a relationship, very much similar to a human affair, where interaction, intellect and intention meet to bring forth the novelty of experience. She plays with the sheer malleability of ideas, like a child with clay, and forms them to the final moment, like a smith at the fire. In Ipsita’s realm, builds are akin to birthing, and buildings akin to all life forms in their expression and identity.
Yet, her miracle lies not in her effort, but her sincerity. Nothing is a constraint — time, budget, energy — in Ipsita’s creation process. And this devotion is born out of her deep longing to give back for everything she has ever received; no laurels are worth a dime if she cannot learn from them to give back to others and society manifold.
Her journey as a designer and creator sparked off at the age of four, and the trajectory of her life story proves the same in exemplary moments that align: like the time she made an Eiffel Tower for a school project that won her a gold, and serendipitously, upon winning her first architecture competition she landed, for her formal architecture internship, in Paris, to witness the same tower before her own eyes.
Truthfully, there is no finish line to the ambitious task she has set herself to, and all else assured, she will not rest until she imprints her spirit and altruistic understanding upon the very city of New Delhi — a city she has shuttled back to after romancing the architectural marvels of globalised metropolitans like London, Paris, Barcelona.
